individual psychotherapy
At this moment of your life, you may be dealing with new life challenges and are feeling overwhelmed. Or maybe you have a lasting problem that keeps on coming back. Most of us developed all kinds of strategies to deal with life challenges and a lot of those strategies were developed early on in our lives without having a lot of control over them. Maybe you decide you wanted to address some of them now and therapy is a place to do that. By building safety and trust with another human being, we can begin to unpack, examine and rebuild our inner world. There will be some grief as part of this journey but it also evokes joy.
In working with you, I am direct and proactive. My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and embedded within a social justice framework blending contemporary psychoanalysis with somatic interventions, EMDR, as well as studies in attachment and neuroscience. In addition to discussing and free-associating about your current and historical life experiences, particularly in the context of relationships, we may incorporate looking at your dreams or paying attention to the language expressed by your body. Together we will draw on your strengths to guide us through any areas you feel "stuck" and begin to make shifts. It is my goal to always provide culturally humble, trauma-informed, collaborative, and client-centered psychotherapy.
